- estar — where a known thing is, and how something feels right now. La farmacia está al lado del banco. Estoy bien.

- The order that gets marks: hay to introduce, está to place. Hay una farmacia y está enfrente del parque.
- Negative existence: No hay ningún restaurante / ninguna farmacia. Singular in Spanish where English goes plural, and both negatives stay.
- No article before a bare profession: soy estudiante, never soy un estudiante.

- The verb agrees with the thing liked, never with the person. Me gusta el cine. Me gustan los conciertos.

Reflexive verbs: the two rules that decide everything
- Pronouns me · te · se · nos · os · se levantarse me levanto · te levantas · se levanta nos levantamos · os levantáis · se levantan
- Rule 1. After a preposition the verb stays in the infinitive, and the pronoun sticks to the end. Antes de ducharme. Después de acostarse.
- Rule 2. When a conjugated verb comes first, the reflexive stays infinitive but the pronoun still changes. Quiero ducharme · Quiere ducharse · Queremos ducharnos.
- Anywhere else, conjugate it. Your notes print Me levantar de la silla; the exam wants Me levanto de la silla.
- Stem-changing reflexives: despertarse e→ie (me despierto) · acostarse o→ue (me acuesto) · vestirse e→i (me visto, not me vieste).
- Two verbs, not one: despertarse is waking up, levantarse is getting out of bed. The exam text uses both, ten minutes apart.
- Do not confuse the two pronoun sets. Reflexive: me, te, se, nos, os, se. Indirect object for gustar: me, te, le, nos, os, les.

- Spanish swaps the comma and the point. 4,90 € is four euros ninety, read cuatro euros con noventa céntimos. 1.500 € is one thousand five hundred. The sign goes after the number.
