muy sizes an adjective, mucho counts a noun
English uses "very" and "a lot of" without thinking. Spanish splits them by what follows.
muy + adjective or adverb, and it never changes: muy bonito, muy tranquila, muy lejos.
mucho + noun, and it agrees: mucho ambiente, mucha gente, muchos bares, muchas tiendas.
The trap: Hay muy trafico is wrong and appears as a wrong option in the class MCQ set. It is hay mucho trafico.
bastante and poco are the two middle settings
The class scale, weakest to strongest: poco (little, hardly any) · bastante (quite, fairly) · muy (very).
Mi barrio es bastante feo. Quite ugly. En mi barrio hay poco ambiente. Little atmosphere.
The trap: bastante does not mean "enough" here, and poco with a noun agrees like mucho: pocas tiendas, pocas zonas verdes.
es for what it is, esta for where it is
Same split as hay against esta, one level up.
Mi barrio es tranquilo, feo, centrico. Character, so ser.
Mi barrio esta lejos del centro. Position, so estar.
The trap: centrico is a character adjective and takes es, even though it is about location. Mi barrio es muy centrico but mi barrio esta en el centro.
