BondA contract that requires the borrower to pay an interest income to the lender. It resembles a promissory note and is issued by governments or corporations.
PrincipalThe amount that has been invested.
Par value or face valueThe value stated on the bond paper. In India, generally ₹1,000, ₹2,000 or ₹5,000.
CouponThe periodic interest payment, quoted as a rate on the par value.
