The model
Quantity discountA price reduction for larger orders, offered to customers to induce them to buy in large quantities.
Total cost = carrying cost + ordering cost + purchasing cost
= (Q / 2) H + (D / Q) A + P D
where P = unit price
A = ordering cost per order
The class writes the ordering cost as A here rather than S. The first two terms are the familiar EOQ pair; the third, P D, is new and is usually the largest number in the problem.
