Taxonomy 1: data updates
Static dashboardProvides information on KPIs that may be updated manually as new data is collected. Relatively inexpensive and easy to develop, generally updated infrequently, and useful when the KPIs change slowly.
Dynamic dashboardRegularly receives and incorporates new and revised data. Takes more time and effort to develop, is generally updated frequently, perhaps continuously, and is useful when the KPIs change rapidly.
In Power BI terms, a scheduled refresh makes a dashboard dynamic; a file somebody re-uploads keeps it static.
